Frieze Necklace Made With Aquamarine Plain Beads -bijoux

Aquamarine beads are available in many different shapes, colors and sizes. They may be round, tumbles, asymmetrical, striated, engraved, drum shaped, tube shaped and drop shaped among many others. What we will use however is plain aquamarine beads in different sizes to make our frieze necklace. Here's what you will need to get started:

For the fastening: Two colored organza / gauze / satin ribbons 1 to 2 cm, aquamarine and olivine 140 cm

For the beading: Nylon thread 0.3mm, 100cm

Tools: Beading needles size 10 or 12, scissors

Beads: Plain aquamarine beads in the following quantities and sizes:

3 mm beads- 9 nos
4 mm beads- 46 nos
6 mm beads- 28 nos
8 mm beads- 32 nos
10mm beads- 4 nos

Procedure:

1) Cut off a length of 60 cm nylon beading thread and string one 6mm bead followed by one 8mm bead. Bring one end of the thread back through the bigger bead in order to make a circle of beads with the large one in the centre.

2) Use four small and three larger beads to make another circle- this time keeping the first larger bead in the centre as the fourth large bead of this new circle.

3) Now repeat this step eight times. You will now have a set of big and small beads alternating each other in a double row and ending with a single small bead.

4) Now use four mm beads threading them through along with each large bead already in the necklace. Use the smallest 3mm beads as spacer beads between each quartet. Work this way through the center of the two row necklace that you have just completed in step three.

5) When you reach the centre string the four largest 10 mm beads in a square pattern.

6) Continue beading through the center with the 4 mm beads, using the 3 mm beads as spacers until you reach the end of the necklace.

7) You will end by making a small circle of the 4 mm beads with the mm bead as its centre. Do this on both sides.

8) Cut off two lengths each of the organza / gauze / satin ribbon, 70 cms each. In all four lengths of the two differently colored ribbons.

9) Using the two contrasting colors of the ribbon loop them at each end of the beaded work and tie them off.

Your beautiful frieze necklace with plain aquamarine beads and two-toned ribbon is now ready. Enjoy!
